CAMDEN, SC (WIS) - A lake house was engulfed in flame as severe weather rolled through the Midlands on Wednesday.

The home was located on Duck Cove Road in Camden. No one was home at the time.

Kershaw County responders said the house fire appears to be caused by lightning when a tree was struck, split and caught part of the home on fire.

The home was being used as a weekend and summer home by the family that owns it. The family was in Chesterfield County at the time of the fire and the house was unoccupied.

Several have told us that the fire first broke out not long after that first major batch of storms moved through the Midlands Wednesday afternoon. Around that time many people said they heard a loud serious of pops.

The flames did leave the house fully engulfed. One resident captured that scene on video before responders got to the scene.
