DARLINGTON, SC (WIS) - Two of South Carolina's premier sports traditions are partnering together for a fun day at the ballpark for its fans on Saturday, April 8.
Darlington Raceway will sponsor the Coastal Carolina University baseball game against Louisiana-Lafayette at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, SC. Coastal Carolina is the defending NCAA College World Series champions.
The game starts at 2 p.m. on April 8 and will feature in-game promotions, race ticket giveaways and much more. The Darlington Raceway pace car also will be on display at the stadium that day.
"We're pleased to sponsor a Coastal Carolina baseball game this season," track President Kerry Tharp said. "Coastal Carolina's baseball team had a magical run to the College World Series title last year. Their championship brought a great deal of pride to our state and we're excited to build a strong partnership with them this year."
Following their College World Series championship in 2016, CCU head baseball coach Gary Gilmore was honored during Bojangles' Southern 500 pre-race ceremonies. Members of the team were also honored during the track's NASCAR XFINITY Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 race last September.
