LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - Lexington police have arrested the man who posed as a good Samaritan and took an elderly woman's car.
Officers say 43-year-old Timothy Roberts was arrested Friday afternoon. He faces charges of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and driving under suspension. He was also wanted for failure to appear warrants on marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges.
On Thursday, Roberts offered to help an 83-year-old woman find her car in the parking lot of the Lexington County Administration Building.
The victim was there to pay her taxes while Roberts was there for a court appearance. He took her keys to bring the victim's car to her but he never returned the car. Surveillance video showed Roberts enter the victim's car and drive out of the parking lot. He was also seen at a property on Glasgo Lane loading property into her car.
Investigators recovered the victim's car and returned it to her. They credit the resolution of this case with an anonymous tip.
