COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Hundreds of Gamecock fans had championship-caliber confidence Tuesday as they looked to send support to members of the South Carolina men's and women's basketball teams.

Both squads are moving on in the NCAA Division 1 basketball tournaments by competing in the upcoming Sweet 16.

The men's team has a Friday night date with Baylor University while the women's team will take on Quinnipiac University on Saturday.

"You keep doing what you're doing...we'll keep doing what we're doing!" women's head coach Dawn Staley told screaming fans outside of the Colonial Life Arena.

"It's an unbelievable dynamic that we have on this campus..amongst workers...amongst students," said men's head basketball coach Frank Martin.

"Why don't we do this again next week as we get ready to go for the following weekend?" he then asked the sizeable crowd.

Several proud fans said they were definitely on board with that idea. They have the hope that both teams could wind up competing for national titles.

"It's just a great vibe at USC and they're great coaches. I think the best in the country they are," said Miller Hyatt, who is a senior at Carolina.

"Just know that you got a school full of people rooting for ya here! We're all excited to see what they can do in the next round," said Meredith Cordova, who is a junior at USC.

Both teams will leave South Carolina on Wednesday. The men's team is headed to New York City while the women's squad is going to Stockton, CA.
