COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Some people say if you want something, you should speak it into existence.
It looks like the Columbia Fireflies did that last summer on Twitter. When former Florida Gators and Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow expressed interest in playing professional baseball, the New York Mets affiliate spoke to their desire to sign him.
"So I heard @TimTebow is considering baseball..." the team tweeted on Aug. 9 with a photo of the Heisman trophy winner in a Fireflies jersey and hat.
Seven months later, the Fireflies and Tebow announced that he's coming to the capital city.
In a statement released Monday, Tebow said he's "excited" about coming to the team and the city.
