COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A sex offender registered in Indiana has been sentenced for failure to notify authorities of his move to West Columbia, SC.

Christopher Lee Holton, 29, was sentenced in federal court in Columbia for failure to register as a sex offender. He was sentenced to one year in prison followed by five years of probation.

Holton pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced last week. He was required to register his address as a sex offender for a conviction in Indiana. When he was released from prison in January 2015, Holton registered his address in Indiana. But in August 2015, the Whitley County Sheriff's Office in Indiana learned Holton had moved without notifying them.

In August 2016 Holton was discovered living in West Columbia, where investigators learned he had been living for about eight months without registering.
