LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - The employee database of the Lexington Medical Center is the latest victim of a cyberattack.
In a statement released by the hospital, the breach was discovered Friday morning. The breach showed that there has been unauthorized access to the employee information database, called eConnect/Peoplesoft. Medical center officials learned about the breach this week and told employees as quickly as possible.
The database contains the names, social security numbers, and W-2 forms of current and former employees. The database does not contain patient information.
Medical center officials also said that employees should only contact local law enforcement if they notice suspicious activity related to their tax returns or suspect they have been a victim of identity theft.
The statement from the hospital reads:
In just the last month, the Lexington Co. School District 2 also reported a data breach of employee information.
