Woman arrested after forcing mom, children into car at gunpoint

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) - Lexington County deputies have arrested a 32-year-old Columbia woman and charged her with kidnapping and unlawful neglect of a child.

According to the arrest warrants, Lauren Barnhardt did not allow her mother and stepfather to move after pointing a gun at them at their home on South Stonehedge Drive.

"Ms. Barnhardt showed up at the house and demanded her children," Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. "The children were at the home legally and with Ms. Barnhardt's permission."

The report says Barnhardt drove the children and her mother to an ex-boyfriend's house in Columbia, where she was later arrested.

Barnhardt is also charged with two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person.

She is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center as she awaits a bond hearing.
