Deputies: Convicted felon charged with attempted murder after shooting

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Sumter County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Summerville man following a shooting on Friday.

Deputies say 41-year-old Marcus Evans shot a man in the hip area on the side of Highway 15.

According to deputies, Evans is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess a weapon.

SCSO spokesman Ken Bell says the victim is recovering after undergoing surgery.

Evans has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He is currently being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
