RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the woman who was found dead Saturday morning in what investigators describe as a possible murder-suicide.

The woman was identified as 46-year-old  Danielle Colburn-Govan of Columbia.

Richland County deputies along with officials with the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety are investigating the case.

ODPS officials say they received a call of a possible suicide early Saturday morning. When they responded, they located the body of a male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. DPS was able to determine that the man was married and tried to get in contact with his wife. When the wife could not be reached, DPS officials reached out to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Richland deputies say Orangeburg DPS officials contacted them Saturday morning asking them to do a welfare check at a home in the 200 block of Morningside Dr in Richland County. Deputies say when they arrived just after 6 a.m. Saturday, they found a 46-year-old woman with a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body.

Deputies say they are still in the early stages of the investigation, however, they are investigating the death as a murder-suicide.
