COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Midlands special needs pup is in need of a forever home.
Lionel is a 12-year-old American Eskimo Mix, and he cannot use his hind legs!
After he was found on the side of the road and brought to a local shelter, Pawmetto Lifeline took him in and has been caring for him since May. Thanks to his new human friends, Lionel now uses a specially made wheelchair to help him get around.
Despite his handicap, the folks at Pawmetto Lifeline say Lionel is a low maintenance older dog who just needs a loving home that can keep him on a regular schedule.

"He is just such a docile, non-complaining dog. We check on him in the morning. He's up, props himself up, ready for breakfast and he is just happy with life. He does not ask for very much…just some snuggling, some food, some brushing, a bed. The fact that he's easy to take care of and very sweet, you can't ask for anything better," said Michael Kokernak, the Director of Pawmetto Lifeline's spay and neuter clinic.
Kokernak said Lionel needs a home that is either a quiet, adults-only home or a home with older children. He also said Lionel will likely do well with another older dog and cats as well.
