Man wanted for using cloned credit card at 2 Midlands Publix stores

The Richland County Sheriff's Department is requesting the community's assistance in identifying a man who used a cloned credit card at two Publix grocery stores in early September.

The man stole the victim's credit card information and was able to clone a card to make the purchases on Sept. 9.

Deputies said the man bought a gift card and toiletries totaling approximately $124.00 at the Publix on Rosewood Drive. He did the same at the Forest Drive Publix. He made additional purchases totaling approximately $1,800.00 in Orangeburg and Lexington counties.

Investigators said it is unclear when or where the victim's credit card information was compromised. Sheriff Lott continues to warn citizens to frequently check their bank accounts and monthly statements.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 40's wearing a black shirt, and dark blue jeans.
