RIO DE JANEIRO (WIS) - Natasha Hastings was less than a second away from bringing home an Olympic medal.
Instead, the former South Carolina Gamecock track athlete finished fourth in the 400m race behind Jamaica's Shericka Jackson. Hastings was in contention throughout the race before Jackson passed her in the final stretch of the race pushing the Rosedale, N.Y., native out of the top three.
Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas took gold in the event while Hastings' teammate Allyson Felix finished second for the silver medal.
Hastings is slated to run again in the Summer Games on Friday. She is part of the United States' 4x400 relay team, which will air live at 7:40 p.m.
