LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A man has been arrested after leading authorities on a chase through Lexington County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop 38-year-old Kyle Smith on Fish Hatchery Road for driving in the wrong lane. Smith took off leading troopers and deputies down Highway 302 before turning onto Charleston Highway. There, the driver crashed into a median at Hart Street in Cayce and ended up on the side of the road.

The chase was called off shortly after as troopers tracked down the driver a brief foot chase.

Authorities say no other motorists were hurt in the chase. However, the driver in the chase suffered some minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment.

Troopers tell WIS the suspect has a number of outstanding warrants, but it is not clear exactly what he's wanted for at this point.

Traffic on Charleston Highway is now open and the scene has been cleared.

Smith has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to stop for blue lights, and possession of crack cocaine. He was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center.
