2 charged in armed robbery at convenience store

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, SC (WIS) - Two Georgia men are charged in an armed robbery early Friday morning at a Batesburg-Leesville convenience store.

Batesburg-Leesville police said Stanley Godbold, 41, and Alonzo Meyers, 24, both of Augusta, Ga., entered the Quick Stop Convenience Store early Friday morning and got away with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers searched the area and located a suspicious vehicle that tried to elude police, but became disabled. The suspects ran from officers.

Once K-9s were on scene, one suspect was caught within 11 minutes, and the second was captured about four hours later.

Godbold and Meyers are facing numerous charges, including armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and criminal conspiracy.

They were taken to Batesburg-Leesville Detention Facility and are awaiting bond.
