Estate sales company files for bankruptcy protection

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Columbia estate sales business owner has filed for bankruptcy protection, causing a delay in a lawsuit filed against him.

Tony Hendon, who owns a company called Estate Sale Guys, filed for bankruptcy protection, which caused the court to issue a stay in a lawsuit case filed against Hendon by a Florida woman.

WIS first reported on Hendon after complaints filed by many customers said Hendon ripped them off. In September, WIS reported Hendon had been hit with multiple lawsuits accusing him of agreeing to conduct sales, collecting large amounts of merchandise and then refusing to turn over proceeds to his customers.

Hendon was also charged with breach of trust earlier this year.

On Monday, this lawsuit filed was scheduled to go to trial until the judge learned about Hendon's recent filing for bankruptcy protection.
