Person shot during armed robbery, man arrested

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Richland County Sheriff's deputies say a man was shot during a robbery early Wednesday morning.

Deputies were called to a reports of shots fired at about 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Longcreek Drive. They found a man with a gunshot wound, who was taken to the hospital.

The victim's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Lt. Curtis Wilson with the RCSD says the victim was approached by Ernest Singleton, asking if he wanted to buy a gun. When the victim said no, Wilson says Singleton went through the victim's pockets and stole cash. As the victim tried to run away, Singleton shot him.

Singleton is charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.
