Police looking for man accused of shooting girlfriend in front of children

WINNSBORO, SC (WIS) - Officials in Winnsboro need your help finding a man wanted for attempted murder.

According to Winnsboro Public Safety Chief Freddy Lorick, Sr., 31-year-old Larry Cornish and his girlfriend, Ashley Mickle, were in a car at Highway 321 and Calhoun Street. Following a disagreement between the two, Cornish stopped the car, got out, and shot Mickle in the face.

Chief Lorick says Mickle has received medical treatment and is expected to survive the gunshot wound. However, her condition is guarded at this time.

Officials say two children were in the backseat at the time of the shooting.

Cornish stands 5-foot-5 and weighs about 155 pounds. Authorities say he was living with Mickle at Castlewood Apartments.

Chief Lorick says Cornish has an extensive criminal record.
