Woman arrested after 4 dogs die in home with no air conditioning

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Richland County woman turned herself in to the Sheriff's department after four dogs were found dead at her home.

Latisha Todd, 34, is charged with four counts of ill treatment of animals.

Investigators said Todd caused the death of her four dogs after abandoning them in her Scarsdale Drive home without food, water or air conditioning.

Richland County Sheriff's Department Code Enforcement deputies were notified of an ongoing violation of an overgrown lot at Todd's residence. On Thursday, July 7, as deputies attempted to conduct a check of Todd's property, they were notified by maintenance personnel about deceased dogs in the back yard.

Investigators determined three dogs died in a bedroom and one dog died in a closed bathroom after being left alone for a month. When she returned to the home, Todd placed their carcasses in the backyard, investigators said.
