Deputies make arrests in two drug trafficking cases

KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Kershaw County deputies arrested three individuals on one day in two separate drug trafficking cases.

Joseph Kenneth Thomas, 46, and Michelle Asbill Silver, 42, both of Buxton, N.C., were arrested after deputies stopped the couple on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation and smelled marijuana in the vehicle. After searching their Cadillac Escalade, deputies found an ounce of methamphetamine, cocaine, a quarter pound of marijuana and 120 oxycodone tablets in the vehicle.

Thomas and Silver are each charged with trafficking methamphetamine and with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Thomas is also charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and a Schedule II controlled substance. They were taken to Kershaw County Detention Center and have since been released on bond.

Both had previously been arrested in North Carolina and were in fact out on bond when they were arrested by Kershaw County deputies.

Later on the same day, deputies also arrested Anthony Davis, 35, and charged him with trafficking crack cocaine and cocaine. Investigators had a search warrant for an apartment on Laurens Street in Camden, where they seized 2 ounces of crack cocaine, a half ounce of powder cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.

Davis is also charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within proximity of a school and to distribute cocaine within a proximity of a school.
