Motor home fire causes eastbound I-26 traffic troubles

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A motor home caused massive traffic issues on Interstate 26 just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, the right eastbound lane was closed while officials work to investigate and clean up the scene near mile marker 82 in Newberry County.

According to Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster, the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. when the RV caught fire. Foster says the driver managed to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road, but the fire also caught the nearby woods on fire.

One person was transported to the hospital for slight medical attention.
