COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett has lost the Democratic Primary, according to preliminary results.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, candidate Tim Baxley beat Garrett with 4,502 votes to Garrett's 2,613 votes.
"I've called Tim and congratulated him and told him my team will help him in the transition to make sure it's smooth and ready for him to take office in January, so he can hit the ground running," Garrett said.
Garrett has been with the sheriff's office since 2009.
"I'm going to continue to work," Garrett said. "The voters have spoken, so I've got six months to prepare to do something."
