COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Gamecocks will be without Dom Thompson-Williams come next season.
According to a report, the South Carolina outfielder has signed to play with the New York Yankees.
Thompson-Williams finished the year tied for second on the team in batting average (.321). He also provided 41 RBIs while slugging .517 for the Gamecocks.
The junior out of Sioux City, Iowa, was the only player to start all 64 games for the Gamecocks this season.
Thompson-Williams was selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of this year's MLB Draft.
Thompson-Williams was one of seven Gamecocks to be chosen in the draft. Taylor Widener was also selected by the Yankees in the 12th round.
