COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Crimestoppers tip has led to the arrest of an attempted murder suspect.
Herbert Davon Oree, 20, is charged with three counts of attempted murder, first degree burglary, arson-third degree and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Columbia Police Department's Fugitive Team along Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents located Oree inside a room at the Economy Inn on Broad River Road near Interstate 20 on Thursday night.
Officers had been searching for Oree since May 22. Investigators believe he allegedly broke into a Bailey Street home, stabbed three people and set part of the home's interior on fire. The flames were quickly extinguished by the victims and did not spread to the remainder of the house.
The victims received stab wounds to their upper and lower bodies and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said. One victim remains in the hospital.
While investigators continue to determine a motive, they believe the incident was isolated and that the victims are familiar with Oree.
Oree remains at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
