SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Sumter County Sheriff's deputies are trying to find the person who fired shots during a road-rage incident Thursday afternoon.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office says a man reported he was followed by someone in a white Volkswagen Jetta, who then pulled up alongside him and fired a shot into his window.

The incident happened on Pitts Road west of Sumter at about 2:30 p.m. Deputies say some type of exchange occurred between the victim and the unknown driver while on the road Thursday afternoon. The victim told deputies the driver began following him from Loring Mill Road to Pitts Road and shot at him. After the shot was fired, the victim told deputies the vehicle made a U-turn and drove toward McCrays Mill Road.

The victim stopped at a nearby home where EMS was called and he was treated for a cut from broken glass.

"The car pulled up beside him and he thought it was going to pass but it didn't. Then he was looking down the barrel of a weapon. He did not require hospitalization but we are looking for a white Volkswagen Jetta. That's all we know right now, we have no description of the driver," explained Ken Bell with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

A photo of a Volkswagen Jetta similar to the one deputies are looking for is attached to this story.
