SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Sumter County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of pistol-whipping a woman in the head.
Toney Tierene Cooper, 47, of Sumter, is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was arrested Tuesday.
According to the arrest warrants, Cooper is accused of assaulting a woman at a home on National Street Saturday by beating her in the head and face with a handgun. The warrants say the attack broke out several of the woman's teeth and caused cuts to her face that required stitches.
