COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man is behind bars and facing felony DUI charges after Columbia police say he hit a motorcyclist early Saturday morning and then fled the scene.
Christopher Nazry, 48, is charged with felony DUI and hit and run, according to officers. Bond has been set at $50,000.
Officers say shortly before 2:30 a.m. Nazry was traveling North on Farrow Road in a pick-up truck when he hit a motorcycle driver who was traveling south on the same road. The two collided on Farrow Road at the intersection of Fontaine and Wilkes Roads, according to officers.
Witnesses told officers that they followed Nazry as he left the scene of the collision.
Officers say they found Nazry at a home on Maurice Street, and while speaking with him, they noticed his speech was slurred and he had a strong odor of alcohol. Nazry participated in several lawful field sobriety tests, according to officers, before being arrested.
Officers say Nazry was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries before being transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
