Midlands officers to be honored at Law Enforcement Memorial Wednesday

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Two Midlands police officers who died in the line of duty last year will be honored at the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day in Columbia Wednesday.

Forest Acres Police Officer Greg Alia was shot and killed while chasing a suspect near Richland Mall in September.

Columbia Police Officer Stacy Case died in a crash while responding to a report of a shooting in October.

The memorial ceremony is at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy on Broad River Road at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The public is invited.

All South Carolina law enforcement officers who gave their lives to protect others over the years will be recognized.

Marlboro County Sheriff's Deputy Delton Daniels, whose end of watch was in August, also will be honored among the officers who died in 2015.
