SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Nearly a week after Sumter County deputies began their search for a man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, new evidence has surfaced regarding this case.

According to Sheriff Anthony Dennis, processed evidence shows no signs of assault claimed by the victim.

"The results of our investigation, based upon all the evidence that has thus far been processed, do not indicate that this child, or the public, is in any danger relative to this alleged assault," Sheriff Dennis said.

The girl was at home alone on the 2600 block of Tindal Road when a white male allegedly broke in and attacked her, according to an incident report.

The investigation, however, is still open.
