LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Officials in Lexington School District One say they're trying to clear up some rumors surrounding high school graduations this year.
They say reports were spreading that top graduating seniors would not be able to wear medals, cords or other pieces to show their achievements at district commencements.
Officials say those reports are false. All graduating seniors who earn academic honors will be able to wear the stoles, medals and cords that go with it. However, they say no high schools will be selecting a class valedictorian or salutatorian. They say district policy has always made that the case, and it is written in the student handbook.
