Sumter car dealer arrested at airport on breach of trust charge

SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Sumter car dealer is facing a breach of trust charge after a victim claims he did not pay off the lien on her vehicle after trading it in.

Michael Jerome Moses, Sr., 54, accepted a 2013 Chevrolet Cruise as a trade-in from the victim Sept. 15 at his dealership Sumter Automotive Imports, located at 1227 S. Guignard Drive. However, Moses failed to pay off the almost $13,000 lien against the vehicle, investigators said.

Deputies arrested Moses on Sunday at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport as he was about to board a plane to Mexico. He is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, more than $10,000.

Moses is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
