COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department says they are handing over an investigation into alleged campaign sign vandalism to the State Law Enforcement Division.

SLED says specifically, they're looking into the case of vandalism against signs posted by Richland County sheriff's candidate James Flowers.

The sheriff's department says they've handed over the investigation in order to avoid any questions about how the investigation is being handled.

Richland County, however, will handle the cases involving other candidates who aren't running for sheriff.

Flowers is facing current Sheriff Leon Lott in the June Democratic Primary.
