'Person of interest' being charged after bank robbery near Irmo Elementary

IRMO, SC (WIS) - The Irmo Police Department and the FBI are investigating an armed robbery that happened Friday evening on Lake Murray Boulevard.

Officers say 36-year-old Rashid Deon Prioleau, who was initially brought in as a person of interest, is now being charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

Officers say around 6 p.m. Prioleau entered the NSBC branch on Lake Murray Blvd. wearing a suit, mask, and gloves and presented a weapon. After robbing the bank, officers say he fled on foot.

According to officers, evidence led 2 deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department to a Shell gas station. The deputies observed someone sweating profusely at the gas station and officers say when they went to question him, he fled. The deputies got into a vehicle pursuit with him and he was arrested at approx. 6:10 p.m. Officers say the driver of the vehicle was Rashid Prioleau.

Prioleau is currently being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a failure to stop charge.
