ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A school employee in Orangeburg County is accused of stealing $4,500 worth of computers and equipment from the school.

Matthew William Brunson, 25, of Bowman, is charged with grand larceny.

According to the arrest warrant, Brunson admitted to stealing six computers from the Brookdale School in Orangeburg in February. The warrant says Brunson worked at the school and took the computers to sell for cash.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office reports on Feb. 26, a school employee reported her laptop missing. The employee said her door had been locked at the time of the theft.

Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five spokesperson Bill Clark says Brunson was a custodian at the school. He is no longer employed with the district.

Several of the computers were returned or have been recovered.

At a hearing Monday, bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
