RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott credits two arrests Wednesday to anonymous tips received through the department's app.

Artis Welch, 46, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of methamphetamine. Amanda Shearon, 30, was arrested on three outstanding warrants out of Kershaw County.

Lott said the app did exactly what it was intended to do and that's alert law enforcement to criminal activity, so agents can act quickly. All county residents are encouraged to download the free app.

Meanwhile, Welch and Shearon were taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
