WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Emergency crews didn't have to go far for a report of a building collapse in West Columbia Monday morning.

A SUV crashed into a building in the 600 block of North 12th Street, which is across the street the West Columbia Fire Department, at about 6:15 a.m. It took about an hour to remove the vehicle from the building.

An officer on the scene tells WIS the driver had some kind of medical incident before the crash.

After acquiring the crash incident report, WIS discovered that the vehicle involved, a 2004 Jeep, struck the building when the driver suffered an apparent seizure. The Jeep veered off the left side of the street and collided with the building, and causing approximately $100,000 in damages.

The driver, who told first responders he didn't recall what happened, was transported to an area hospital by EMS for treatment.
