The Richland County Sheriff's Department says White was attempting to steal beer from the Circle K on 8500 Two Notch Road on March 11 when a sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene to make the arrest.

At that point, investigators say, White began to resist arrest and struck the deputy, who fell to the ground and took even more punches and kicks from White.

It took a Good Samaritan to end the brawl and help the deputy to finally apprehend White.

The deputy was treated for non-life threatening injuries after the incident.

White, meanwhile, was also charged with contempt of court during his bond hearing on this case and immediately sentenced to 30 days in jail.
