COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A rescue agency is still trying to find suspects in the case of a German Shepherd that was dragged by a vehicle earlier this week.

Aid workers say the dog, who is named Arabella, was left suffering from life-threatening injuries. One of her legs was so badly damaged that it had to be amputated on Tuesday.

"It used to be an hour-by-hour thing, now it's kind of day-by-day," Jackie O'Sullivan, whose organization is funding the dog's care, said. "We're very happy she survived the surgery."

Workers at Accurate Diagnostics in Columbia found Arabella early Monday morning after following a trail of blood in back of the business. According to witness reports, it appeared that the German shepherd had dragged itself to that location. A veterinarian later concluded that Arabella's injuries indicated she had been dragged. She is continuing to recover at an area animal hospital in stable condition.

"It was unbelievable,"  Vanessa Hudson, who shot video of Arabella after she was found, said. "I couldn't believe that the dog was actually still alive, just to be able to drag itself from that far away after being injured."

Workers at Accurate Diagnostics are looking into filing a report with the Richland County Animal Control Office. Rescue Dogs NYC is also offering a $3,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case. The group is also updating concerned animal lovers about Arabella's recovery on a Facebook group. Of course, they are also looking to raise money for Arabella's considerably large medical bills.

According to O'Sullivan, Arabella is currently in good spirits, but remains on IVs.
