Deputies: 2 men wanted for armed robbery and fraud in Lexington County

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is searching for two men wanted for armed robbery and fraud.

Deputies say two Hispanic men robbed the La Gaviota Grocery on Augusta Highway on Jan. 10. The suspects took cash and checks associated with a La Gaviota checking account, according to deputies.

Deputies say one of the suspects was caught on surveillance trying to cash the checks at businesses in Greenville, Kershaw, and Saluda counties. According to deputies, he used fake Honduran passports and Puerto Rico identification cards to try and cash the checks.

He was seen with up to five other people in a newer Honda Accord and an old white work van.

The robbery and check fraud remain under investigation by the Lexington Sheriff's Department.
