COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Sheriff Leon Lott might not be patrolling the streets of Richland County like he might once have before he became sheriff, but it appears he's certainly not afraid to get in on the action when necessary.

According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Lott recently helped capture a man wanted in connection to at least two burglary cases in the area of Chartwell Road.

The suspect, 28-year-old Quavion Brooker Bing, was chased down by Lott after the sheriff spotted him hiding behind a building on Broad River Road, the sheriff's department said.

Investigators said Bing had just gotten done kicking down an apartment door and leaving with a tablet and 50" television. Bing, deputies said, was spotted and pictured by witnesses carrying the TV through the complex.

When stopped by deputies and questioned, he gave a false name and birthday before running away.

DNA evidence, according to investigators, linked Bing to another burglary where a 42" TV and 100 DVDs were stolen.

An investigation into this case is ongoing.
