Newberry police investigating deadly shooting at community center

NEWBERRY, SC (WIS) - Newberry police are searching for clues in a deadly shooting early Sunday morning at a community center.

Police were called to the Drayton Street Community Center just before 3 a.m. Sunday for a report of gunshots. Arriving officers say they saw a large crowd leaving the area.

Officers found two men with gunshot wounds. One 24-year-old victim, identified as Richard Richshon Devell Sims, suffered several gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

A second victim, a 23-year-old, was taken to the hospital where police say he is in good condition.
