FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A person has died following an accident on Interstate 77 involving four vehicles on Wednesday.
According to Lance Corporal David Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the first two cars involved in the collision slowed down for traffic when the third vehicle slammed into the back of the second car. Because of the initial collision, the second car hit the back of the first car. The fourth vehicle, a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle ran into the back of the third vehicle.
Bernard Volpe, the driver of the vehicle, was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. The name of the motorcycle passenger who died in the accident has not been released at this point.
The collision is currently being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
