COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A Forest Acres police officer who was shot and killed while on duty this week has been laid to rest.

Officer Greg Alia's funeral services started at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Devine Street in Columbia. He was laid to rest at St. Peter's Cemetery.

About 300 police officers representing law enforcement agencies throughout the Midlands marched silently down Devine Street from Dreher High School to the church. Only the sound of the steady rain could be heard.

Hundreds of mourners stood outside the church.

Alia was shot and killed Wednesday morning at Richland Mall in Forest Acres. 34-year-old Jarvis Hall is charged with his murder.

Alia leaves behind a wife and infant son. A GoFundMe fundraising page raised more than $105,000 for Alia's family.

Alia was 32 years old.
