COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina community is coming together for our brothers and sisters in blue.

Wives and family members of the South Carolina Law Enforcement are organizing a rally on the steps of the State Housel for "National Thank A Police Officer Day."

They are asking supporters to wear blue or black to show support.

A law enforcement officer chaplain will pray with others about keeping our officers safe every day.

"The wives and families are really excited about having law enforcement events at the state house, and we are honored to have them all here and we are looking forward to seeing all the people," said organizer Nichole Kopenhaver. "We are hoping to have 500 people. We are not sure so we will see, and they will be from all over South Carolina."

Congressman Joe Wilson will attend along with law enforcement officers across the state.

The event is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
