LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Deputies arrested a former USC running back and a woman after a month-long undercover investigation, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department announced.

Demetris Summers, who was a star running back at South Carolina from 2003 to 2005, and Latesha Boykin were arrested Friday on multiple drug and weapons charges, said Capt. Adam Myrick with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

Both Summers and Boykin face charges for trafficking and distributing drugs, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen weapon and unlawful conduct toward a child, Myrick said.

Myrick said agents executed a search warrant at the couple's apartment in the River Oak apartment complex on Friday. Summers and Boykin were arrested without incident a short time later.

Three children who reside with the couple have been placed in protective custody, Myrick said.

In 2014, Summers was charged with DUI, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Three children who reside with the couple have been placed in protective custody, Myrick said.

Both were taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.
