GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WYFF) - A woman was found dead Tuesday morning, and her 13-year-old son is in custody in connection to her death.

Isabel Cristina Zuluaga, 44, was found dead inside her Simpsonville home by a contractor who had been working on her home.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Master Deputy Jonathan Smith said Zuluaga's 13-year-old son is in custody in connection to her death.

A neighbor said there were loud pounding noises on the front door of Zuluaga's home Monday night. Another neighbor said he heard what sounded like a gun shot at about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A contractor doing work at the home Tuesday morning found Zuluaga's body, according to deputies. Neighbors said construction began on the home Friday.

Neighbors said emergency vehicles started showing up at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Zuluaga's son is a student at Bryson Middle School.  The school was put on modified lockdown as a precaution while deputies were looking for the boy.

Deputies said they located the 13-year-old just before noon walking on Woodruff Road, headed toward Spartanburg County.

According to Greenville County Schools, the lockdown at Bryson Middle was lifted at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The case will be handled in Family Court and no information will be released because of the boy's age.
