Man killed in apparent robbery while walking to bus stop to go to work

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department is looking for the person or persons responsible for killing a man at a Columbia apartment complex early Thursday morning.

At 6:45 a.m., deputies responded to a shots fired call near the Waterford Apartments.

When they arrived, they found 26-year-old Rickey Daniel Baker of Chapin lying in the 1300 block of Longcreek Drive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

EMS transported Baker to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe Baker was walking to the bus stop to go to work when he was shot in an apparent armed robbery.

On Tuesday, deputies released a video of an SUV possibly connected with the crime. They are hoping you recognize the vehicle and can give them more information on who would have been in it on Thursday morning.
