RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - With a flash flood warning for multiple counties throughout the Midlands issued overnight, customers across Richland and Lexington counties currently find themselves without power.

At it's peak, South Carolina Electric & Gas reported more than 1860 outages in Richland and Lexington counties. By noon, the number of outages was down to 77.

"The numbers will vary throughout the morning as our crews are out there working to get power on as quickly as possible," said SCE&G Spokesperson Kim Asbill.

Asbill says crews have been called into the Midlands from other areas to help restore power. She said most of the outages resulted from lightning, trees on power lines and wind damage.

She warned people to stay away from downed power lines if they encounter them on the roads.
