ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - A Washington, D.C. man was arrested after deputies say he stabbed and killed his great aunt in Orangeburg County.

Deputies responded to a home on Edisto Drive on Tuesday morning after Isaiah Vincent Veazey, 25, called 911 and said a woman had been stabbed. When deputies arrived, they found a 74-year-old woman in a bedroom wrapped in bed sheets.

“Veazey was taken into custody without incident within moments of deputies arriving at the Edisto Drive residence,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “We have also recovered a knife that has been sent for testing to determine if it was involved in this tragic incident.”

Deputies said Veazey later admitted to stabbing the woman, who relatives identified as Veazey's great aunt. Relatives told deputies Veazey had moved to South Carolina to live with the victim and had only been there a month.

Veazey told deputies the attack took place about an hour before he called 911, according to an arrest warrant.

“This investigation is not over,” Ravenell said. “Although we have a suspect in custody, we're still working this case in order to give this family any answers we can.”

Veazey was transported to the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center. Bond has not been set.
