Lightning strikes home in Gaston

GASTON, SC (WIS) - Firefighters were called to a home in Gaston after receiving a call that the residence was struck by lightning Monday afternoon.

Officials say they received around around 3 p.m after the roof of a residence located on the 1700 block of Woodtrail Drive was struck by lightning.

According to officials, the bolt of lightning damaged the roof and set the attic on fire. However, the only damage done to the home was by water.

The battalion chief says firefighters were able to contain the fire in 30 minutes. Officials say no injuries were reported from the incident.
